EPG Launches A More Modern Website For Today's Busy Doctors

To coincide with its 10th anniversary, EPG Health Media has announced the launch of a new version of www.epgonline.org, its disease and treatment knowledge base for healthcare professionals (HCPs). Extensively redesigned, the portal now contains new medical content elements including multi-media, social media, apps, news, eCME and conference calendars, all within 50 disease topic homepages. This platform provides the opportunity for the healthcare industry to reach and engage doctors online with medical education content of all types.

Established in 2000, epgonline.org is an independent website dedicated to providing healthcare professionals with free global access to the most recent best practice diagnosis and management guidance. With over 320,000 opted-in members and more than 110,000 pages of clinical content in multiple languages, the website is now the largest European website for doctors.

EPGOnline.org has historically contained a database of drugs in 9 European languages, as well as clinical trial outcomes, guidelines to treatment and a series of sponsored disease and treatment Knowledge Centres. To these core elements have been added a range of more modern interactive features and content types, in a new contemporary and intuitive format.

EPGs market research into the The online behavior and demands of EU healthcare professionals (available to download free at www.epghealthmedia.com/industry-reports) reinforces changes that have been applied to its doctor website. In particular, HCP respondents indicated strong demand for a broad range of credible, specialty-focused resources that are quick and easy to access online. With this in mind, the new version of epgonline.org now collates a wider variety of information types from reputable sources around the web and conveniently positions them on 50 new disease topic homepages. 77% of respondents indicated that they would value this approach.

The new EPG website acts as a medical channel, allowing healthcare professionals to quickly browse or search for multiple types and sources of medical content in one place, according to their medical specialty. It also now provides an even better platform for publishers of medical education content to effectively reach, engage and support their target healthcare audiences according to specialty and country.

Over the past two years, we have carefully monitored use of epgonline.org and conducted research with our members to understand what todays doctors seek to achieve through their online activity said Chris Cooper, EPG Health Media I am confident that we have developed a superior web experience for our audience and the perfect platform through which to you unite them with a broad range of good quality medical content in one convenient location. To my knowledge, no other physician website works in quite the same way

Free to use, epgonline.org is funded through educational grants and sponsorship from organisations within the healthcare industry, including many of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies. The website is operated by EPG Health Media, a UK based digital health publisher and communications agency. In addition to the professional website, EPG Health Media operate a European patient website and a medical market research division.

EPG Health Media is showcasing its new website at a number of healthcare industry events this Autumn, including Digipharm Europe, Health 2.0 Europe and Eyeforpharmas Pharma Marketing Europe.

Future developments include plans to launch a free mobile version of epgonline.org by 2012 as well as developing the platform in markets outside of Europe by 2013.
