ODP Struck Off after Failing to Engage in Fourth Review Hearing

Operating department practitioner Jason Mastin has been struck off the HCPC Register following a review of a suspension order first imposed in 2012.

HCPC

A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee conducted a fourth review of a suspension order first imposed for a period of one year on 27 November 2012, and extended on three occasions in December 2013, December 2014 and March 2015. Mr Mastin was originally suspended after receiving a conviction for harassment and failing to disclose this to his employer - Greater Manchester University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

In the absence of evidence as requested by the previous reviewing Panel, the Panel concluded that Mr Mastin's fitness to practise remains impaired.

Panel Chair Gillian Fleming commented:

"Despite guidance and a clear warning as to the risk of being subject to a striking off order if he failed to produce evidence for the next review, Mr Mastin has failed to take any steps to demonstrate that he has addressed the issues previously raised. His failure to engage constructively with the HCPC in these proceedings and to take note of the guidance of previous Panels shows a lack of insight and the consequent risk of repetition."

The striking off order will come into effect from the expiry of the existing order.

Jason Mastin was not present or represented at the hearing.
